There is no single staffing number that suits every workplace. Review hazards, workforce size, working patterns, absences, site layout and access to emergency services. Your assessment should identify the training and cover needed whenever work takes place.
Plan cover across the whole working day
A first aider on one shift may not cover another shift or a separate site. Allow for holidays and sickness, and review arrangements as work changes.
Choose broader skills for higher-risk work
For construction, engineering and manufacturing, our comprehensive First Aid at Work Level 3 route is a strong option where your assessment identifies the need for broader injury and illness coverage.

Both courses have two London days, 08:00–17:00 each day, including breaks. Approved blended learning, with additional tutor-led learning. Dates begin 10–11 October 2026, then repeat every other weekend.
