Remote construction training still requires live participation. For SMSTS, SSSTS and the refresher courses advertised through SiteCourses, learners should prepare the required equipment before the course begins.
Your equipment checklist
- A suitable computer or laptop or other specifically approved device.
- A reliable internet connection.
- A working camera and microphone.
- Suitable identification for any identity checks.
- Any required software or video-conferencing platform.
- A quiet and appropriate environment where you can participate for the full training day.
Phones, mobile devices and tablets are not permitted for use on these courses.
Test your setup before the course
Charge the laptop, connect the charger, test the camera and microphone, and make sure your browser or meeting application has permission to use them. If a joining link is supplied in advance, open it early enough to resolve any access problem before the course starts.
Why the quiet environment matters
Remote delivery is still an attended training course, not self-paced e-learning. Learners need to hear the trainer, participate when required and remain available throughout the scheduled training time.
