A construction NVQ is assessed through your work, so completion depends on demonstrating the required competence rather than attending a fixed number of classroom days. Two candidates on the same qualification can finish at different times.
Typical completion times at SiteCourses
- Level 3: approximately two to four months.
- Level 6: approximately four to six months.
- Level 7: approximately four to six months.
These are estimates based on previous candidate completion times, not guaranteed deadlines. The qualification route, access to suitable workplace evidence and the time you can put into your portfolio all affect progress.
Why an experienced candidate may still need time
Experience is valuable, but your assessor needs evidence against every required unit. A job title alone does not demonstrate all the competencies. Some activities may happen only at particular stages of a project, and your assessor may need further explanation, observation or a professional discussion.
Before enrolling, describe your current responsibilities and any limits on your access to work documents. This helps identify whether the proposed route fits your role and what evidence may take longer to obtain.
A practical weekly approach
Agree manageable milestones with your assessor. Set aside regular time to upload relevant evidence and respond to feedback, rather than leaving your portfolio until the end. Keep a short record of your own responsibilities and decisions while tasks are fresh in your memory.
The online portfolio can be accessed at any time. Access to the portfolio does not mean an assessor is available immediately; agree meeting times and response arrangements directly.
What if you need longer?
SiteCourses provides an initial period of up to six months to complete the qualification. If your circumstances change, contact us early to discuss an extension. Extensions may involve a fee, so confirm the terms before relying on extra time.
There is no final NVQ classroom test that replaces missing evidence. Completion requires the assessor to establish that the qualification requirements have been met.
